Kansas City: Our Home

Kansas City: Our Home

Soccer isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life for the people in Kansas City.  From the electric atmosphere at Children’s Mercy Park to the packed local field on Saturday mornings, KC lives and breathes the game. It’s a city that doesn’t just watch soccer, it shapes it.

For decades, Kansas City has been at the forefront of American soccer culture. Sporting Kansas City (formerly the Kansas City Wiz) helped set the standard for MLS soccer as one of the ten original teams in 1996. The KC Current are redefining women's soccer with the first stadium purpose-built for a professional women's team. Beyond the pro level, the grassroots game thrives. Youth clubs, high school powerhouses, and amateur leagues all fuel the city’s unrelenting passion for the sport.

But KC’s soccer culture isn’t just about competition, it’s about community. Walk into any local soccer shop or training facility, and you’ll find people who live for the game. Tournaments, pickup games, and futsal courts keep the energy alive year-round. This city doesn’t go dormant in the offseason, because there is no offseason.

And now, the world is coming to Kansas City. In 2026, KC will take the stage as one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup, solidifying its place as a true soccer capital. This tournament will bring fans from all over the world, turning KC into a global Soccer hub. With world-class stadiums, unmatched hospitality, and a fanbase that knows how to bring the energy, Kansas City is ready to show the world what American soccer culture is all about.

At States Soccer, we’re here for it. Kansas City’s soccer DNA runs deep, and we are proud to be a part of it.
